Het is niet aangekondigd als main event. Er gaan sterke geruchten dat GSP zijn comeback maakt tijdens dit evenement.

Tegen Lawler dan of zo? Maar Rumble tegen Cormier hoort gewoon het min event te zijn.

UFC boss says Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson headlines UFC 206

While the contest has been set for a week, Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson has now been established as the headliner for UFC 206.

The bout’s status wasn’t established when the fight was first revealed, but UFC President Dana White confirmed on today’s new edition of FS1’s “UFC Tonight” that it will be the main event of UFC 206.

White revealed the news when Cormier, who was hosting the show, asked White why UFC.com still showed another matchup of opponents yet to be revealed above him on the lineup.

“Yeah, you’re the main event,” White said. “There shouldn’t be a TBD above you.”

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. The bout order is still to be determined.

Cormier submitted Johnson when they first fought at UFC 187 in May 2015 to claim the belt that was vacated by former champ Jon Jones, who now is the interim champ – but who has been embroiled in the throes of a pre-fight drug test failure ahead of UFC 200 in July and is awaiting potential punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. After that, Cormier beat Alexander Gustafsson by split decision at UFC 192 a year ago.

Cormier was supposed to fight Jones for the unified title at UFC 200 until Jones was pulled three days before the fight when news of his failed drug test broke. Instead, he fought former middleweight champion Anderson Silva on short notice and won a unanimous decision against the future UFC Hall of Famer.

Johnson has been on a tear since his loss to Cormier. He has three straight knockouts, all of which won “Performance of the Night” bonuses. He stopped Jimi Manuwa 13 months ago in the second round at UFC 191. In the UFC on FOX 18 main event in January, he knocked out Ryan Bader in the first round. And at UFC 202 in August, he took out fellow former title challenger Glover Teixeira in just 13 seconds.

The latest UFC 206 lineup includes:
    Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson
    Poliana Botelho vs. Valerie Letourneau
    Zach Makovsky vs. John Moraga
    John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata
    Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Drew Dober

Cub Swanson vs. Dooho Choi added to UFC 206 in Toronto

December’s UFC 206 event has a new and intriguing featherweight matchup.

UFC officials have announced a fight between Cub Swanson (23-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Dooho Choi (15-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC).

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. The bout order hasn’t been determined.

Swanson is No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, and Choi is No. 15.

Swanson, who had contemplated retirement following a yearlong layoff and back-to-back losses to Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway (he discusses it above), has gotten back on track in 2016. The 32-year-old has picked up decision wins over Hacran Dias and Tatsuya Kawajiri, and he now looks for his third straight win.

He now meets “The Korean Superboy,” a 25-year-old who’s won 13 straight fights – the past eight via knockout. Since joining the UFC, the M-1 and Deep vet has stopped Juan Puig, Sam Sicilia and Thiago Tavares. The latter two earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses.

The latest UFC 206 card now includes:
Champ Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson – for light-heavyweight title
    Poliana Botelho vs. Valerie Letourneau
    Zach Makovsky vs. John Moraga
    John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata
    Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Drew Dober
    Rustam Khabilov vs. Jason Saggo

Chad Laprise returns to welterweight, meets Li Jingliang at UFC 206 in Toronto

A Canadian fighter is heading back to his former weight class, and will do it in front of his home fans.

A welterweight bout between Chad Laprise (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Li Jingliang (11-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) is the latest addition to December’s UFC 206 lineup. UFC officials announced the new booking today.

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Laprise will move back up to the welterweight division for the fight after announcing his days as a lightweight were over earlier this year. “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations” winner missed weight by three pounds for a UFC on FOX 21 showdown with Thibault Gouti in August, causing him to make the change.

Although Laprise beat Gouti by TKO in just 96 seconds at UFC on FOX 21, he still thinks his best performances are to come at 170 pounds. After starting his career on a 10-fight winning streak, “The Disciple” has dropped two of his past three contests. He will surely be hoping to begin another long run of wins when he competes in his native Canada for the sixth time in seven UFC appearances.

Jingliang, meanwhile, will be hoping to catch on to some momentum for the first time in his UFC career at Laprise’s expense. The Chinese fighter has alternated wins and losses over five fights since he joined the UFC roster in May 2014.

“The Leech” made his most recent octagon appearance an emphatic one when he picked up a first-round knockout of Anton Zafir at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale in July. He will attempt to repeat that success when he tries to put consecutive wins together for the first time in his UFC tenure.

The latest UFC 206 lineup now includes:

Champ Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson – for light-heavyweight title
    Poliana Botelho vs. Valerie Letourneau
    Zach Makovsky vs. John Moraga
    John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata
    Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Drew Dober
    Rustam Khabilov vs. Jason Saggo
    Misha Cirkunov vs. Nikita Krylov
    Dooho Choi vs. Cub Swanson

Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis, Mitch Gagnon vs. Matthew Lopez added to UFC 206

Well, it might not be the Georges St-Pierre appearance for which fans were hoping, but it’s a pretty nice featherweight matchup.

UFC official today announced that top 145-pound contenders Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis will meet at UFC 206.

Additionally, a bantamweight matchup between Mitch Gagnon and Matthew Lopez has been added to the card, while Viviane Pereira steps in for an injured Poliana Botelho and now meets Valerie Letourneau.

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson headlines the pay-per-view main card following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

“Showtime” Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) is a former UFC and WEC lightweight champion who made the move down to 145 pounds at August UFC on FOX 21 event and picked up a third-round submission win over Charles Oliveira. Pettis is currently ranked No. 10 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings.

Meanwhile, Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3) checks in at No. 3, based on the strength of an impressive nine-fight winning streak. “Blessed” is considered the top contender in the UFC’s featherweight division, but with champ Conor McGregor chasing gold at 155 pounds and interim champ Jose Aldo uncertain about his fighting future, Holloway takes a bout against another dynamic talent.

Gagnon (12-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) looks to return from nearly two full years on the sidelines after battling through injury. In his return to action, he meets Lopez (8-1 UFC, 0-1 UFC), who made his UFC debut as an undefeated prospect but suffered a submission loss to Rani Yahya.

Pereira (10-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is a 23-year-old Brazilian prospect who now makes her UFC debut.

With the additions to the card, UFC 206 now includes:

Champ Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson – for light heavyweight title
    Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis
    Valerie Letourneau vs. Viviane Pereira
    Zach Makovsky vs. John Moraga
    John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata
    Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Drew Dober
    Emil Meek vs. Jordan Mein
    Rustam Khabilov vs. Jason Saggo
    Misha Cirkunov vs. Nikita Krylov
    Dooho Choi vs. Cub Swanson
    Li Jingliang vs. Chad Laprise
    Mitch Gagnon vs. Matthew Lopez

Dustin Ortiz steps in for John Moraga at UFC 206 in Toronto

Flyweight Dustin Ortiz (15-6 MMA, 4-4 UFC) has stepped in for an injured John Moraga (16-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) and will face Zach Makovsky (19-7 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at UFC 206.

UFC officials recently announced the change in plans.

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson headlines the pay-per-view main card following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Ortiz is ranked No. 10 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings while Makovsky checks in at No. 12.

Ortiz looks to rebound after losing consecutive fights for the first time in his career, suffering decision defeats to Jussier Formiga and Wilson Reis. Despite opening his UFC run with three wins in four fights, Makovsky is now 1-3 in the four fights since and now is in desperate need of a win.

Former Bellator bantamweight champ Makovsky is looking to rebound after back-to-back decision losses to former flyweight title challengers John Dodson and Joseph Benavidez. After starting his UFC career 2-0 with wins over Scott Jorgensen and Josh Sampo, he dropped a decision to Jussier Formiga before rebounding with a decision over Tim Elliott.

With the change to the card, UFC 206 now includes:
Champ Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson – for light heavyweight title
    Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis
    Valerie Letourneau vs. Viviane Pereira
    John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata
    Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Drew Dober

Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy rescheduled for UFC 206 in Toronto

The middleweight bout between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy that was pulled from UFC 205 in the midst of fight week has been added to December’s UFC 206 lineup.

UFC officials confirmed the bout to MMAjunkie following a report from MMAFighting.com.

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Evans (19-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC) vs. Kennedy (18-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is likely to join the pay-per-view main card following early prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Evans was pulled from UFC 205 just five days prior to the event when an issue with his medicals was flagged by the New York State Athletic Commission. The exact details remain unknown, but after the announcement was made UFC President Dana White tweeted a photo of “Suga” in which he looked in phenomenal shape.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion was set to make his middleweight debut after a record-tying 19 appearances at 205 pounds. He won’t have to wait much longer for it to happen, though.

Kennedy, meanwhile, was set to return from a 777-day layoff at UFC 205. He hasn’t competed since a third-round TKO loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 in September 2014, and even angled to remain on the card in New York, calling for fights with Nick Diaz, Anderson Silva or Michael Bisping.

The latest UFC 206 card now includes:
Champ Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson – for light heavyweight title
    Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis
    Valerie Letourneau vs. Viviane Pereira
    John Makdessi vs. Lando Vannata
