Michael Bisping, Dan Henderson, Jimi Manuwa and Iuri Alcantara each earned $50,000 fight-night bonuses at Saturday’s UFC 204 event.

Manuwa and Alcantara earned “Performance of the Night” awards, and Bisping and Henderson took home “Fight of the Night” honors.

The UFC announced the winners following the event.

In the UFC 204 main event, Bisping (30-7 MMA, 20-7 UFC) beat Henderson (32-15 MMA, 9-9 UFC) in Henderson’s retirement fight with scores of 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 and retained his middleweight title in his first defense. Bisping did it despite getting knocked down twice by Henderson’s famous right hand. Bisping won four of the five rounds from a total strikes standpoint, but had his face badly cut and swollen thanks to Henderson’s early knockdowns. Still, he got the unanimous decision win in front of his hometown fans and avenged a loss from 2009 at UFC 100, when Henderson knocked him cold.

Manuwa (16-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) delighted his home fans with a second-round knockout of the favored Ovince Saint Preux (19-9 MMA, 7-4 UFC). Saint Preux had his way with Manuwa in the first round, outworking him on the ground. But in the second, Manuwa planted Saint Preux for a vicious knockout. It was one of nine stoppages in 11 fights on the card, and those nine stoppages came consecutively in between Bisping’s decision win to close and a decision win to open the prelims.

Alcantara (34-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) sure wasn’t very polite to England’s own Brad Pickett (25-12 MMA, 5-7 UFC) in their bantamweight bout to close out the preliminary card on FS1. Alcantara went after Pickett right away, drilling him early, then taking advantage against the cage with a triangle choke. It was just Pickett’s fifth loss in his home country in 22 career fights, and it came less than two minutes into the fight.

UFC 204 took place at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Nog even over de rankings voor dit event in de MW-divisie, De champ die een verdwaald titleshot kreeg verdedigt de titel tegen de nummer 13. Anderson Silva hoort natuurlijk ook niet meer op plek 5 meer. Ik vind het maar een zooitje.

Hij's goed voor het bedrijf UFC, maar dankzij hem zitten we nu al bijna een jaar te wachten op een hobbey-ende champ, hebben we Bisping vs Hendo, staat Mous nog #9 en begint zelfs hij nu te trash-talken, krijgt Cyborg slachtvee aangeboden, dreigt Aldo met stoppen en nog wat meer.
Alles voor de $$ nu, de sport MMA verwatert, maar de UFC spint garen.

Daarentegen is het mega vermakelijk. Mousasi klimt nu gewoon naar 5 of 6, Cyborg wil wel goede tegenstanders, de rest wil alleen niet, Aldo gaat echt niet stoppen en de UFC heeft opzicht een punt dat ze hem niet meteen tegen MCG laten vechten. Vorige partij duurde 14 seconden. Daarbij is het niet zo dat Mcgregor sportief niks waarmaakt, hij wordt misschien de eerste vechter met 2 belts en heeft hij de eerste pas 10 maanden geleden gewonnen.Ik ben van mening dat we niet mogen klagen. Tuurlijk is Bisping - Hendo een titel partij die nergens over gaat, maar buiten de top 4 is het een logische keuze gezien zijn legacy.

Ach. Misschien zie ik het te somber en natuurlijk presteert McG prima. Maar het gaat allemaal nergens meer over, nja ppv's. Freakfights gaan we krijgen als straks CM Punk tegen een andere celeb gaat vechten.

Ik zie Jacare, Romero en Mousasi toch echt wel van hem winnen. Weidman en Rockhold niet, ik weet de reden niet maar ik denk gewoon dat hij een edge op ze heeft.
