UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi, now the #5 ranked contender in the world, spoke recently with FloCombat‘s Tony Reid, and said that he and featherweight champion Conor McGregor got so heated on text, and ‘Notorious’ threatened a stabbing.
“Sometimes you have to say stupid s*** before people notice you,” he explained. “I got a private message from Conor McGregor. He was cursing at me, the little f***. He was threatening me. I said ‘What are you going to do with your 50 kilos?’ The f***er was threatening me with a knife. He knows I could beat his ass any day.
“I said some stuff that I didn’t mean. I said ‘People don’t know who the real fighter is or not.’ Of course he’s a top fighter. English is not my first language and I just blurt stuff out sometimes. I thought it was funny that he was messaging me.”
“Fighters are smart. One time I heard Ronda Rousey say on a good day she could beat Cain Velasquez. Anyone that has a little bit of a brain knows that’s not even possible. Cain Velasquez in a wheelchair could beat her . Maybe I learned it late but it’s not too late for me yet. We have to do things differently now.”
Mousasi is coming off a tremendous win over Vitor Belfort at UFC 204. He is aiming for a title shot. Unfortunately, for the immediate future, the top four as all spoke for.
#2 Chris Weidman fights #4 Yoel Romero at UFC 205 on November 12, 2016, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. #3 Souza Jacare fights #1 Luke Rockhold at UFC Fight Night 101 on Nov. 26, 2016 in Melbourne, Australia.
So in the meantime, he wants a rematch with Uriah Hall, then one of the top four, and then a title shot. And all along, he is going to be making some noise.
