INTERVIEW MALAIPET SASIPRAPA

Marco Pique showed to be very sharp at the moment. On Sunday the 17th of February he defeated Joeri Mes and Imro Main in one night. Giving both of them a dwn and a 8th count. After 7 rounds of fighting against some of Hollands finest fighters he lost om point in the final against Warren Stevelmans, who was unleashed this evening and not to be stoppen. After fighting 10 x 3 minutes top kickboxing on one night marco will now face Malaipet Sasiprapa on the 2nd of march in Almere on the Slamm!! Holland VS Thailand IV show.





Mailapet is a proud member of the Thai delegation who will face the strong Ducth fighters in The Netherlands vs Thailand. He will face Marco Pique who is no stranger to him because they have faced each other before.
Mailapet lives in LA. Is Mailapet ready for the showdown ?





How are the preparations for youre fight in the Netherlands ?

I’m coming off of a fight I had last January where I did not get hurt. I resumed my training schedule a week afterwards. I had roughly 6 weeks to train for this fight, although it has been busy at the gym with our move to another facility, I’ve have found time to train at other gyms in my area too.


Can you give us your training schedule ?

I train twice a day, I run in the morning and lift weights a regular fitness gym by my house. In the evening I train after I finish teaching classes. I work on Thai pads, focus mitts, and sparring. If I have enough energy afterwards, I will go to the 24 hour fitness gym to casually workout while catching up with friends on the phone.





Have you been in the Netherlands before ?

Yes, I have been to the Netherlands before for different promotions.


Are you proud to be a member of the Thai team that will take on the dutch on march 2th ?

I find it such a great opportunity to be showcased my skills with other great Thai fighters of this era. I also find that this will help promote my name further since most of the biggest Muay Thai fans will be watching this event.


Have you spoken to the other Thai fighters that are part of the team ?

I know about all the fighters and we have many mutual friends. I have yet to talk directly with Anuwat, Sanchai, Samranchai and Yodsanklai since I’ve been living in the United States for the past 7 ½ years.


During your visit in the Netherlands will you try some typical Ducth things like: “Haring met uitjes and Poffertjes”?

I have no idea what that is… but if it is fun, it is worth a try. “Laughs”


What is your favorit Thai dish ?

Sticky rice, beef salad, beef blood soup.


How do you rank the dutch fighters compared to other contries ?

Holland and Frances are very close to leading Europe in Muay Thai. The best always changes going back and forth.





What do you think of the skills of the dutch fighters ?

Dutch fighters fight different than most Thai fighters. Dutch fighters can focus on important fights a few times a year and can have the time to heal up properly. Thai fighters focus fighting more frequently and on their preservation for the next fight down the line. This makes the styles and objectives for scoring different. In Thailand, the sport is more artful, in Holland the fights are more harder fought. Both styles are difficult in different ways.


How is life in California ?

I love living in California since I have many friends here. There is plenty of activity and many things to do. Aside from the fact that I am having fun and making a good living here, I really miss my hometown and my family. I hope that someday, I can travel back and forth so that I won’t become so homesick.





How many classes you teach on a daily basis ?

I teach 3-4 hours a day, depending on the day of the week. I also teach private lessons which depends on who decides to come by.


How many titles have you won ?

I have won 6 different title belts from many different organizations. The latest one was a title from the WBC.





What is the meaning of the on your shoulder ?

It is an image of Buddha.


When will you make a debut in MMA ?

I started my MMA debut roughly 2 years ago. This year I will start to fight some of the bigger names.


How do you see your chances in MMA ?

I will try my best and see how it turns out. I see this as a new career but yet I only look at it one fight at a time. I do feel that I need to work on my ground fighting and techniques to help me stay on my feet.





How many times have you fought Marco Pique ?

I have fought Marco Pique once before in Las Vegas


Have you seen the buakaw fight of Pique ?

Yes, I have seen his fight with Buakaw. I believe he has gotten better since we last fought, but I am coming off some big wins too.





Do you think the Thai team wil beat the dutch ?

I believe most of the Thai team will win just because I know who they are. I don’t have too much of an idea of how good the other Dutch fighters are other than Andy Souwer. I think Yodsandklai should win that one.



If you have a to pick another ducth fighter to fight who would it be ?

I would like to fight Tyrone Spong. He is a very strong and exciting fighter.





What does an elephant mean to you since you have grown up with elephants when you where young ?

My hometown is Surin which is famous for their elephants. Elephants are useful for farming and helping lift heavy trees for lumber. Surin is also known as “elephant country”. Elephants are as close to their owners like cats and dogs are in the U.S. I like to use the elephant on my trunks to signify where I come from.


Is the fight on full thai rules with elbows ?

My fight in Slamm4 is suppose to exclude elbows.


Can you come up with an prediction for the Marco Pique fight ?

I think it will be a good 5 round fight, I planned to give everything it to him.
