Fedor Emelianeko Challenges Brock Lesnar

Fedor Emelianeko, considered to be one of the best MMA fighters in the world not currently under contract to UFC, issued a statement challenging new UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar to a MMA fight. The complete statement released by M-1, which has Fedor under contract is as follows:

M-1's Official Statement on Brock Lesnar's victory

M-1 would like to congratulate Brock Lesnar on his UFC heavyweight title victory as well as acknowledge Randy Couture's return to active competition after a layoff that lasted over a year.

Couture and WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko had publicly acknowledged a desire to fight each other multiple times over the course of the past year. While M-1 and Fedor remain interested in a match against Couture, we would also like to publicly state for the record that we would welcome a superfight between Fedor and Lesnar that would be held as a co-promoted event between the UFC, M-1, and Affliction Entertainment.

We've invited the media to speak with us today to not only make it clear we would welcome a Fedor vs. Lesnar matchup but to act in a preemptive fashion to address the possibility that UFC officials will try and position Lesnar as the No. 1 heavyweight in the world, much like they have tried to use a marketing ploy to brand Anderson Silfva as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

In the past, UFC president Dana White and Zuffa, LLC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta have tried to claim that Fedor was "overrated" and that his "record was irrelevant." They make these claims in spite of the fact that Fedor holds career victories over UFC champions past and present. While we have tremendous respect for the contributions Mr. Fertitta and Dana have made to this sport, we do not believe they are sincere in their statements.

It is the position of M-1 that the UFC has adopted an anti-Fedor policy because multiple attempts to sign him have not been fruitful. For a company that has tried to market itself as the number one promotion in the world, they are unable to accept the fact that the number one fighter in the world does not reside on its roster of contracted fighters.

We believe that the UFC has determined that it's much more inexpensive for them to use their marketing resources to use smoke and mirrors to brand a fighter as the pound-for-pound best as opposed to actually paying the pound-for-pound best what he is truly worth on the open market.

While Brock Lesnar is an accomplished athlete and a talented fighter, we do not consider him to be the number one heavyweight in the world. Until someone beats him, we strongly believe that Fedor should continue to be recognized as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. In a match between Fedor and Lesnar, we do not feel that at this stage Lesnar would be able to make it out of the first round.

For those who feel our statements in regards to Fedor are self-serving, we'd like to refer you to a video interview on the website RawVegas.tv in which at his UFC 91 after-party Couture himself acknowledges that "Fedor would probably tear Brock up at this point."

laat lesnar nu eerst maar eens winnen van Nog....dan zou het zeker een interesante partij zijn...

denk dat lesnar zijn ontwikkeling in het zelfde tempo moet door gaan...
En dan kan deze super atleet het iedereen erg zwaar maken...

Achja... hoe dan ook... of je nu van hem houdt of niet.. Lesnar is/wordt een grote.

hij heeft de grootte en de massa en de kracht en de snelheid....

en als je al die zaken in huis hebt, dan heb je relatief nog maar weinig standup en grappling skills nodig om succesvol te zijn.

dus leer die gast een potje degelijk stootwerk gecombineerd met een solide groundgame... en voila...

nagenoeg onverslaanbaar

dat denk ik ook. dan is deze man er al. Deze man is zo gruwelijk sterk en goed in worstelen. Dat heb ik nu al 2 partijen gezien. En hij leert erg snel. Z'n stand up warin hij couture al een aantal knieen op het koppie gaf. En de man kan ook een stoot hebben, dat was wel duidelijk. Vind het aan de andere kant wel mooi, dat we is een nieuw gezicht in de heavy weight divisie krijgen

Fedor vs. Lesnar gaat er niet komen als ik aan de kant van UFC zou staan.
Ze hebben net een verse champ. Om die dan meteen weer af te laten rossen door Fedor lijkt me niet verstandig... Maar mocht Lesnar een winnen... Is de UFC hotter dan hot.. En Lesnar is dan die man die Fedor verslaat!! This will nerver happen!!!

Tja, sterk statement. Nieuwe kampioen, prima kom maar hier, laat maar zien dan dat je zo goed bent.
Ik kan me de laatste paar 30sec partijen van Fedor nog helder voor de geest halen. Ik denk niet dat UFC het aandurft deze partij. Veel bla bla, maar echt, Fedor sloopt Lesnar in de eerste ronde.

De gast mist een behoorlijk potje ervaring....
2 gevechten geleden werd hij nog kansloos gesubmit door Mir.
Hij heeft tegen geen enkele goede grondvechter of striker gestaan sindsdien.
Kijk eens naar Herring en Couture's. Ik vind het niet echt indrukwekkend(uitzondering daarop is de winst van Couture op Gonzaga, dat was knap). Couture is met name gewoon ontzettend gehyped, zoals de UFC nu ook met Lesnar doet.
Herring en Couture zijn bovendien beide geen "finishers", en blinken niet uit op de grond of staand.

Punt wat ik wil maken is, Brock heeft dan wel potentieel, maar mist ervaring en heeft nog een boel zwakke punten. Hij heeft niet de ervaring van goede striker danwel grondvechter...de kans is groot dat hij op 1 van die vlakken nog tegen de lamp gaat lopen.

Ook zal Brock het denk ik afleggen tegen Big Nog, Barnett, Alexander, en tegen Mir in een rematch om maar eens iets te noemen.

Als de UFC deze match vrijgeeft dan betekent dat het einde van het sprookje voor Brock 'Chestcock' Lesnar. Ik denk niet dat ze daar op zitten te wachten..

Tja Lesnar is toch champ geworden....met ontwikkeling van verdere skills zou hgioj wel eens heel lang kunnen blijven ook...Al denk ik dat Fedor hem op dit moment serieus pijn gaat doen...

(volgens mij verbergt iemand zichzelf hier......weddenschap vereffening????)
