Trainer van Margarito bekent fout handwrap voor Mosley gevecht

Voor het Mosley-Margarito gevecht werd er door Mosleys trainer iets illegaals ontdekt in de bandages van Margarito. Margarito's trainer heeft dit nu bekenend tijdens het onderzoek:

Antonio Margarito's trainer, Javier Capetillo, has essentially fallen on the sword in the hand-wrapping scandal that is playing out during today's hearing in front of the California State Athletic Commission in Van Nuys.

Capetillo just told his attorney that he accidentally implanted inserts into the hand wraps of his boxer.

"I committed a big mistake," Capetillo said. "I don't want this young man [Margarito] to have problems. I'm here to cover any responsibility. I take full responsibility. I committed this innocent mistake."

Capetillo explained he accidentally pulled the insert from his training bag and placed it in Margarito's knuckle wraps on Jan. 24, just before Margarito's fight with Shane Mosley.

The commission has the power to revoke both Capetillo and Margarito's licenses.

ik geloof er geen reet van dat het per ongeluk gebeurd(het zat in allebei de bandages van allebei de handen...) is en hoe jammer ik het ook vind, geloof ik ook niet dat Margarito nergens van wist, dat kan echt niet... heel jammer dit, Margarito is(was) een van mijn favoriete vechters maar dit werpt een flinke schaduw over zijn prestaties.

weet btw bijna wel zeker dat hij dit ook bij cotto heeft gebruikt... ik bedoel Mosley werd als underdog gezien en tegen hem hebben ze het ook gedaan, dus dan zullen ze het bij Cotto (die als favoriet werd gezien, en misschien wel de beste van de divisie op dat moment) al helemaal gedaan hebben...

pure bullshit zowel van de trainer als Margarito zelf.

heel jammer dit ,want nu zal er altijd twijfel blijven of hij dit ook deed tegen Cotto,of andere tegenstanders.

ze zijn geloof ik alle 2,voor minimaal een jaar geschorst in Amerika,dat betekend dus wel dat hij in andere landen kan vechten

Ik ben in iedergeval geen fan meer

Voorlopig zijn ze alleen in California geschorst, al is de kans groot dat andere staten hier in mee gaan (moetik nog zien, money talks en een rematch met Cotto is veel meer geld waard nu)... maar waarschijnlijk kan hij soweiso in mexico vechten (mexicaanse steden hebben dit al aangeboden).

Ik hoop dat de Rematch met cotto er alsnog komt(is nu geschrapt voor 13 juni), daar heeft Cotto zeker wel recht op en mocht het zo zijn dat Margarito de eerste keer ook verharde pads heeft gebruikt(denk ik wel), kan Cotto zeker winnen. In het gevecht met Mosley zag je al dat Margarito's stoten aanzienlijk minder inpact hadden dan normaal

Op zo'n niveau gebeuren zulke ongelukken nooit.
De enige vraag nu is wie dat allemaal geinitieerd heeft...trainers of de boxer zelf.

Mosley was idd niet onder de indruk van zijn stoten in die partij.

hier de reactie van Miguel Cotto op de vraag,of hij dacht dat Margarito het ook bij zijn partij heeft gedaan ?

Every boxer knows if there’s something different in their hands or not. I think as a fighter you would know if you have anything in there or not.

“You go in there in the ring thinking that you’re playing on the same level and you’re all doing the same thing. This is a sport, not a slaughter house. This is about fighting at the best of your abilities at the capacity you have….I just think we should all go in the ring and be ready to fight with what we have, our own abilites and our own preparations.”

As for problems outside the ring facing Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley, Cotto commented, “I intend to stake my claim as the best welterweight in the world in 2009. I want to prove to everyone that I am the best welterweight in the world. Mosley and Margarito have their own problems, they have their own issues. They have to respond to that. All I know is that I’m ready to fight. They’re adults, they know what they did, whatever they did, I’m just going on with my career. There are plenty of good fights out there for me to demonstrate how good I am at welterweight.”
