Gegard Mousasi maakt pro-boxing debut?

Volgens ESPN.com gaat mousasi begin 2010 zijn pro-debut in het boxen maken, hij speelt al een paar jaar met de gedachten om ook in het boksen zijn geluk te proberen, oorspronkelijk zou hij voor sho-box op it's showtime zijn debut maken als onderdeel van zijn Strikeforce contract, maar het lijkt erop dat hij op de nationale sportzender ESPN zijn debut gaat maken.

Geruchten gaan dat hij op 8 Januari al zijn debut maakt in California, zijn tegenstander staat op de ESPN site aangegeven als "to be announced".

Zal mij benieuwen wat voor een tegenstander ze voor hem halen. Het is dan wel zijn pro-debuut, maar echt een groentje is het natuurlijk niet...

Wel mooi om te zien dat vechters tegenwoordig zo all-round worden. K-1 vechters die succesvol MMA gaan doen, MMA vechters die succesvol K-1 gaan doen en nu ook al pro-boksen.

Hij heeft in Leiden op boksen gezeten maar die boksschool bestaat al lang niet meer.

vindt dit wel tof... hij is goed met z'n handen maar als hij een technisch begaafde tegenstander krijgt gaat hij het niet winnen... hopen op een brawler dus, kan een leuk gevecht worden.

Q: Without knowing the rules, how did you train?
A: It wasnft good. Originally I was fighting Nishijima under K-1 rules, and it fell through. So, I took a boxing match on January 8, so I was training boxing. Then I heard several MMA opponents, then I thought I wouldnft fight at all. Finally a fight was confirmed, and I found out the rules the day I left for Japan.

Q: What happened to the boxing bout?
A: No, I cancelled because there isnft enough time between the bouts to travel. Maybe another time.

Q: Was that boxing bout a professional bout?
A: It was a heavyweight professional fight.

Q: Youfre thinking about boxing professionally as well?
A: I wanted to try it out and see how I will do. I will do it eventually, but this time the timing wasnft right.
