Welcome to coaches and athlets,
it's a pleasure to introduce and invite you at the ADCC Submission Fighting Open ITALY 2008, prestigious international tournement of Submission Fighting, featuring the best athlets from Italy and all over Europe.

The winners get place for ADCC Europe Trials (03 January 2009 in Stokholm).
Money prize 1.600 Euro.

After the great success of last year, the ADCC Open Italy will take place again in the ambit of the WTKA International Championships, one of the most important italian all styles Martial Arts and Ringsports Festival held in Marina di Carrara, a beautiful sea location in Tuscany. Theater of the event will be the CARRAFIERE Sport Hall, a great and innovative complex with more than 30.000 cover square metres. A five days marathon of tournements and stages, more than 2500 competitors from 65 countries, 17 competition areas (rings and tatami).

GENERAL INFORMATION

ADCC Submission Fighting International tournement open to athlets in lawful possession of the European Citizenship.

Rules applied: ADCC Submission Fighting (Abu Dhabi Championship)

Registration fee: all documents concerning the Athlets Registration and the Competition Fee must be delivered to ADCC Italy Referees at the weight control.
Contact ADCC ITALY within 24 a.m. of Friday 24th October 2008, in order to signal your list of athlets participating, class and weight category.

Registration Fee is 40 € per athlete.

CLASS A - Champions prizes provided to each weight classes:
- 1st class.: qualification to ADCC Europe Trial 2009 + 200 € + Katana + ADCC Gold Medal + WTKA Gold Medal
- 2nd class.: ADCC Silver Medal + WTKA Silver Medal
- 3rd class.: ADCC Bronze Medal + WTKA Bronze Medal

CLASS WOMEN prizes provided to each weight classes:
- 1st class.: qualification to ADCC Europe Trial 2009 + 100 € + Katana + ADCC Gold Medal + WTKA Gold Medal
- 2nd class.: ADCC Silver Medal + WTKA Silver Medal
- 3rd class.: ADCC Bronze Medal + WTKA Bronze Medal

CLASS B - Beginners prizes provided to each weight classes:
- 1st class.: 100 € + Katana + ADCC Gold Medal + WTKA Gold Medal
- 2nd class.: ADCC Silver Medal + WTKA Silver Medal
- 3rd class.: ADCC Bronze Medal + WTKA Bronze Medal

CLASS Juniores (under 16 years) prizes provided to each weight classes:
- 1st class.: Katana + ADCC Gold Medal + WTKA Gold Medal

- 3rd class.: ADCC Bronze Medal + WTKA Bronze Medal

Weight Classes:
- CLASS A-Champions: Kg -66 -77 -88 +88
- CLASS B-Beginners: Kg -67 -73 -79 -85 -91 +91
- WOMEN: Kg -55 +55
- JUNIORES (under 16) Kg -65 +65

In addition for all registered fighters:
- free access to training seminars on Friday, Saturday and Sunday;
- free massages sessions during all days of competitions;
- participatory diploma;
- all day long free shuttle-bus from the hotels to CARRARAFIERE Sport Hall.

Coaches and athlets are required to read and to sign all the documentation to reach the competition.

Ziet er niet verkeerd uit, klinkt veelbelovend qua organisatie. En Toscanië is één van m'n favoriete Italië-plekjes, dus het is perfect om er een paar daagjes verlof aan vast te plakken.

Komt er ook geen qualification in Nederland en België, net zoals 2 jaar geleden?!

Ik wist niet eens dat het ADCC zo in mekaar stak..

Dacht altijd dat het ging om maar 1 specifiek event in de emiraten... En dat daar de wereldwijde grappling elite uitgenodigd waren....

Dat was zo ja, maar nu is het zo'n succesvol event dat het bepaald wie die grappling elite daadwerkelijk is. Van elk continent worden - voor elke gewichtscategorie - de beste vechters uitgenodigd. Als ik me niet vergis zijn alle onkosten (zowel voor de vechter als zijn coach) betaald, en is er aardig wat prijzengeld te winnen.

Om te bepalen wie er voor elk continent mag gaan, wordt er een trial gehouden. Om te bepalen wie er aan die trial dient deel te nemen worden er verschillende (ik dacht 8 in Europa) qualifiers gehouden.

Heel tof.. zo krijg je tenminste grapplers in het toernooi die er staan vanwege hun kunde ipv hun naam.

zo vond ik het altijd op zijn minst "verrassend" dat Mat Hughes stond te grapplen op het ADCC... terwijl het niet echt een grappling-elite is? (toch? of zeg ik nu iets heel doms)

Mensen als Jef Monson en Arona geloof ik graag dat ze destijds bij de absolute wereldtop hoorden.

Tja ... "ons kent ons" krijg je de wereld niet uit. Maar misschien heeft hij wel een qualifier gewonnen toen ... who knows?!

denk dat er vroeger vooral bekende vechters werden uitgenodigd om publiek te lokken... en denk ook dat matt hughes iedereen hier nog steeds moeiteloos in een knoopje legt
