After watching foreign boxers, I saw their performance has been improved continually in each year. They use complete Muaythai attacks. They are stronger and have more potential. Generally, I accept that foreign boxers have improved very much.
When Thai boxer confront foreigner boxer, it is not easy to beat as before. Although it was a moderate-skill Thai boxer with normal reputation, we sometimes had to give weight advantage to foreign boxers. However, now we can see that even an elite boxer cannot win easily.
Another point we saw was that Thai boxers’ appearance is disadvantageous to foreign boxers. Thai boxers’ bodies are big but plump. They are not big and strong naturally. This is due to the lack of serious support in heavyweight limitation.
It is just cunning.
They do not use complete Muaythai attacks. Unlike foreign boxers that attack forcefully and effectively. We barely see them wrestling. There is sarcastic saying that if you want to see Muaythai, watch foreign boxers but if you want to see wrestling, watch Thai boxers. This ridicule is so hurt. It means Thai boxers cannot fight foreign boxers. We focus on wrestling and knee attack and throwing (which are preferred by the referee).
We no longer see nice powerful kick, hard knee attack (not just soft knee attack), or even punching (because no big score for them). Unlike foreign boxers, they have mastered Muaythai martial art and they perform better than Thai boxers can. They can use elbow attack, jumping-knee attack, and back kick better than Thai boxers, who have barely seen those attacks.
When watching Thaifight semifinal match, which Petchmankong Petchforgus was defeated by Fabio Pinka from France, Thai boxer were trying to defense. He attacked uncertainly as if he was waiting to win at the end of the match. (In case of complete rounds, everything was going well)
He should have shown the power of Muaythai to foreigners. Win or lose is just the matter of sports.
However, Thai boxer did not show his skill. Even in his last match, he performed defensive fight. He kicked softly, attacked with knee, and pushed down the opponent without making any impression.
Unlike foreign boxers, all of them dared to attack. Therefore, they deserve championship. (Although the referee, Pichit Promkong from Aomnoi stage, tried his best to help him but he was punched and defeated.)
Moreover, because of the rule, Petchmankong had to fight for 3rd place but his condition was very poor. However, he had to fight, and then he was knocked out by Japanese boxer in the first round.
It is good that he is just injured. If unexpected incident or death occurs, who will take the responsibility, the referee or the organizer?
