Verslag gala Brothers vs the Rest in Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel

Zaterdag 14 april 2012. Tijd voor het “Brothers versus The Rest” gala in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel.
Was niet eerder bij de sportschool van Bap Tetteroo (sportcentrum Brothers) geweest.
Had niet verwacht op een industrieterrein zo een mooi ingerichte sportplek aan te treffen.
Bak van de meest moderne martelwerktuigen, leuke bar, mooie ring en zaal vol met alle vormen van bokszakken en ander spul om tegen te slaan en te schoppen.
Heeft deze jongeman goed voor elkaar.
Voor dit gala met 26 J en N partijen had hij een forse tent voor de deur laten opzetten waar 400 mensen de vechters konden bewonderen en
men allerlei warm en koud lekkers kon aanschaffen voor een uitermate schappelijke prijs (broodje kip/kerrie 2 Euro bijvoorbeeld)
Was ook een volle bak met sportief (!!) meejuichend publiek dat hun voorkeur voor hun eigen vechter niet onder de bekende stoelen of banken stak.
Ontstond even een klein opstootje leek het waarbij iemand neer ging en de beveiliging er snel op zat.
Bleek dus een onwel persoon, tja net even iets anders dan dat ik en anderen eerst dachten

Keurig gehanteerde timetable waardoor ik even na 23:30 uur al weer thuis was. Ook wel weer eens prettig.
Enige nadeel voor mij was dat de verlichting bij de ring niet echt optimaal was, de foto´s zijn dus niet echt geweldig vrees ik.
Tegen spots in schieten en boven de ring twee bouwlampen hadden mijn camera en ik dus wel moeite mee.
Ligt ook voor een groot gedeelte aan de gebrekkige apparatuur die door een gebrekkige reporter wordt gehanteerd. Soit, het zij zo.
Wil alle betrokkenen,sportscholen, vechters, scheidsrechters van de UMC, en met name Bap, bedanken voor de gastvrijheid, de lekkere koffie, de warme ontvangst en de mooie partijen.
Mooie partijen met alleen jeugd en nieuwelingen ? Jazeker !
Tuurlijk zaten er een paar “ hotsebotse knal maar voor zijn raap” partijen tussen, maar ook hele mooie en en stel KO´s en TKO´s.
Mensen hebben dus absoluut waar voor hun geld gekregen.

Dan voordat de wedstrijden beginnen een moment van bezinning.
Een emotioneel eerbetoon aan een jonge man van 24 jaar, een leerling van Bap, die vorig jaar op 25 april werd doodgeschoten.
De hele zaal is stil als alle vechters van Brothers de ring inlopen achter twee jongens die de foto van Atilla dragen.
Ik zie vechters, mensen in het publiek en juryleden huilen en moet eerlijk zeggen dat ook ik moeite heb om mijn ogen droog te houden.
Helpt je te onthouden dat je een hele goede kickbokser kunt zijn, maar dat je kogels nooit kunt tegenhouden.

Erg mooie foto's hoor, zeker met dat licht!
Ik ben een fan van die soort relatief kleinschalige gala's met J en N partijen, zeker in zo'n dorp, met zo'n dorpse sfeer, prachtig!
