Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman Set for August in San Diego

The Ronda Rousey Express will hit Southern California later this summer.

Rousey will defend her Strikeforce bantamweight title for the first time against Sarah Kaufman on Aug. 18 in San Diego, Calif.,

MMAFighting.com has confirmed with sources close to the fight. The promotion is expected to officially announce the date in the coming weeks.

Rousey (5-0) defeated Miesha Tate in March to capture the women's 135-pound belt. The win capped off an impressive year which saw her win her first five fights in a combined time of 7:15.

Kaufman (15-1) secured her spot as the No. 1 contender when she defeated Alexis Davis on the same card in March. The Canadian has won three in a row since losing the 135-pound belt to Marloes Coenen in Oct. 2010.

The card, which will mark the third in San Diego since Zuffa purchased Strikeforce, will air on Showtime.

Jacare-Brunson, Saffiedine-Bowling Added to Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza is among the four fighters just added to offer depth to the upcoming Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman card set for August 18.
"Jacare" will square up with the man he was originally supposed to fight back in March, Derek Brunson, the promotion has confirmed.

Brunson was a late scratch for that bout after being denied an Ohio fighter's license due to vision issues. He has since had surgery to correct the problem.

Souza (15-3, 1 no contest) went on to defeat Brunson's replacement Bristol Marunde via third-round submission, in that March event. The win was his first since losing the title to Luke Rockhold in September 2011. Brunson, meanwhile, will be hoping to rebound after suffering his first career loss. In mid-June, with Strikeforce's blessing, he accepted a short-notice fight with UFC veteran Kendall Grove at a ShoFight event in Missouri, and was handed a split-decision loss, dropping his record to 9-1.

Strikeforce has also officially added a matchup of welterweights Tarec Saffiedine and Roger Bowling. Saffiedine (12-3) is a winner of two straight, as is the 11-2 Bowling.

The event, set for San Diego's Valley View Casino Center, will mark women's bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey's first attempt at defending her belt, coming against former champ Sarah Kaufman.

Miesha Tate vs. Julie Kedzie Set for Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman

The comeback trail for Miesha Tate begins on August 18.

On that date, the former Strikeforce bantamweight women's champion will fight for the first time since losing the belt to Ronda Rousey. On the undercard of Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman, Tate will take on veteran Julie Kedzie. Strikeforce confirmed the pairing on Tuesday.

Tate (12-3) had won six in a row prior to the loss against Rousey.

The two met in March, with Rousey winning with his signature armbar finish at 4:27 of the first round of one of the most anticipated women's matches in recent memory. Tate was trapped in the armbar seemingly forever but refused to tap even when her arm was bent at a gruesome angle, finally surrendering after an eternity.

With her sights set on an eventual rematch with Rousey, she'll start with Kedzie, an experienced, well-rounded fighter with a 16-9 career record. Kedzie herself is coming off a loss to Alexis Davis, though at the time she faces Tate, she will be competing for the first time in over one year. Prior to that, she had won four in a row.

Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman takes place at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. Among the other announced bouts is a middleweight matchup pitting Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza against Derek Brunson.

germaine de randamie vecht ook op deze kaart en wel tegen hiroko yamanaka. deze dame vocht haar laatste partij tegen chris cyborg. partij duurde volgens 16 sec, dus germaine weet wat haar te doen staat.
heb er zin in, zie germaine graag vechten.

nb misschien kan 1 van de moderators de titel veranderen en melden dat germaine hier ook vecht, dan verdwijnt die minder snel en krijgt germaine ook de aandacht die ze verdient.

Next month's "Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kuafman" event has two new prliminary-card additions.

In the card's third female fight, bantamweight Germaine de Randamie (2-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) takes on Japanese veteran and former title challenger Hiroko Yamanaka (12-1 MMA, 0-1 SF).

Additionally, Adlan Amagov (9-2-1 MMA, 2-1 SF) takes on fellow middleweight Keith Berry (11-9 MMA, 0-2 SF).

"Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman" takes place Aug. 18 at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego and features a women's bantamweight title fight between champion Ronda Rousey and former titleholder Sarah Kaufman. The main airs on Showtime, and Showtime Extreme carries the prelims.

In her first fight in 14 months, de Randamie looks to rebound from a decision loss to Julia Budd at Strikeforce Challengers 16. In her prior fight, the muay Thai specialist scored a first-round knockout (via knee) of Stephanie Webber.

Her opponent, Yamanaka, will return from a nine-month layoff. Most recently, she headed to the featherweight division, and while undersized, suffered a 16-second TKO loss to then-champ Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos. Santos, though, failed a post-fight drug test, and the bout was overturned to a no-contest. By default, Yamanaka is still riding an eight-fight win streak.

Amagov, a Russian fighter, recently saw his 10-fight unbeaten streak (9-0-1) snapped with a vicious flying-knee-TKO loss to Robbie Lawler in January. Prior to the setback, he picked up a pair of Strikeforce victories over Ronald Stallings (split decision) and Anthony Smith (knockout).

The heavy-handed Berry, meanwhile, gets a third shot at a first Strikeforce win. The WEC and EliteXC vet suffered losses to Trevor Smith and Gian Villante in 2011 Strikeforce fights. He's since posted a 1-1 record on the regional circuit in California.

The latest "Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman" card now includes:
