UFC to stream five UFC 131 fights free on youtube

In addition to streaming on Facebook, the first five preliminary-card bouts from Saturday's UFC 131 card also will stream for free on YouTube.

Sources told MMAjunkie.com the organization simply wanted to widen its audience, reach non-Facebook users, and provide another platform that's very mobile-device-friendly.

YouTube never previously has streamed UFC events, but back in April, the video-sharing giant announced its intention to stream live concerts, interviews and sporting events. The UFC is one of the first sports organization to take advantage of the technology.

Free YouTube streams begin at 5:50 p.m. ET
